Our first day was a success with little tender mercies scattered throughout the day. We checked in at our allotted 10:30 am time and made our way to the Senior Expo. Senior Expo is in one room where each couple visits each table to orient you to certain departments at the MTC. It went relatively quick and we were able to take a quick tour and also drop by the medical clinic to check on our immunization status.

Checking in
Walking into the medical clinic, we were greeted by two Maeser moms and friends! Laura Bradshaw is the nurse and Michelle Rosenvall is a volunteer. After some quick pics, we were told we didn't need need to have any more immunizations. Hallelujah! After a few other stops at the bookstore and copy center, it was lunchtime. They feed a ton of missionaries and staff in a short period of time. While we were looking through all the papers we were given from the Expo, we ran into our niece Hermana Sayer, a Maeser alum Elder Crofts heading to the Adriatics, and a Maeser alum mom Souer Cannon who teaches French at the MTC. It was wonderful seeing those happy faces. While waiting in line, I also ran into Sister Young, Alexa's niece who is heading to Texas. Luckily she recognized me! | Hermana Sayer

Our MTC President welcome session was informative. We had introductions. We are the only couple going to Barbados, but the room was full of senior couples going all over the world. They are expecting 650 young missionaries on Wednesday, so the MTC is bursting at the seams this week. Because of the influx of missionaries, they put many of us senior couples up in a hotel. Our District consists of 4 couples, all of which are going to be in SLC next week for medical training. We have a couple from Canada, North Salt Lake, and Minnesota. We already like them all. This evening we met our Branch Presidency. Doug already has a Sunday assignment for Sacrament meeting. Even though we were done by 7ish and checked into the hotel by 8 pm, we are tired but ready to do this all over again tomorrow to study the gospel together.
