Life in Barbados: August 27-September 3

Life of a Senior Missionary in Barbados

Shout out to our Brother Greg & Sister Jeni who will be joining us here in the BBM in January and serving as an MLS couple on the island of St. Vincent.  See, told you life was better with sandy toes!  Seriously though, we need a few more couples, so if you're interested hit me up and I can give you some details of how you too can become part of the greatest mission in this part of the world!

Our mission encompasses St. Martin, Martinique, Guadelupe, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Vincent, Grenada, and French Guyana.  We need 2 MLS couples who can speak French and at least 2 MLS couples who can speak English in the next 6 months.  We ❤️ it!

Orientation Smiles

This week was transfer week and that means it was ⛴️ ferries, planes, and automobiles with the coming and going; however, it is wonderful to meet those incoming and outgoing missionaries that we haven't had the privilege of meeting face to face and getting to know some of the other missionaries transferring to Barbados from the other English islands.  As senior missionaries, we support not only our mission leaders but these young missionaries.  We are privileged to be included in their departure activities, as well as their initial orientation to the mission.  We work most closely with the missionaries on Barbados; however, we still support all the missionaries on our other islands through technology.  Our Heavenly Father is in charge of his work and although there are a million moving parts, there are so many tender mercies that allow the gospel of Jesus Christ to be spread to even the remotest of places.

Barbados Senior Missionaries & Mission Leaders
Happy Birthday, Elder Fuller!

After a morning of orientation on Saturday, we celebrated the birthday of our Apartment 🏠 & Car 🚗 coordinator Elder Fuller with an evening of 🏹 archery followed by dinner at a local beachside cafe.  It was a nice end to the week and a treat to have our mission leaders join us as well as our area Humanitarian couple the Kirkhams’!

We were really busy just taking care of the missionaries this week, but we were able to explore a new area of the island called Port St. Charles.  We hope to return on pday soon and enjoy the beautiful scenery and water.

Fun Barbados fact of the week:  the water tanks are located on the rooftops.  They are heated by solar panels.  If you have bright & Sunny  days, then you get warm showers in the mornings; however, if it’s overcast, you may find the water 💦 a bit chillier than you want.  One rarely needs to use the cold water tap 🚰 except if you are an evening shower taker and then….you can only use the cold with a sliver of hot because you will scald yourself!  Life on an 🏝️.  Love 💕 the quirks!

Port St. Charles area beaches

Come on down! We need more Senior Couples!  The work/life balance is AMAZING!  PLUS, being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is pure joy!

Life is better with sandy toes!🏝
