Happy Valentine's Day/Month from Barbados

Sunset Watching

Missionary life of a senior (really can’t we use a different term 😆) missionary…..in the BBM we say young missionaries and the young at heart missionaries…..is different from the day to day of a young missionary.  We serve our Mission Leaders and the young missionaries while also being able to serve in our branches if asked.  Young missionaries have standards and rules, while we have standards most of the rules don’t apply like water 💦 rules (thank heavens for that!).  If I had to live on this island and not partake of the beautiful beaches, it would truly be torture for us.  My sister came to visit this week and it was so nice to just enjoy the view and the company.  She was escaping the cold 🥶 and we are here in perpetual summer.

Sunset at Blakey's

We had the opportunity to orient 9 new missionaries this past week.  They are scared, eager, and green and it is such a blessing to be able to watch how the gospel of Jesus Christ molds and shapes them as they allow His Spirit to work in their lives.  Their small seed of faith and belief blossoms to a full blown testimony that with continuous work comes conversion.  Sometimes that is often the biggest blessing of their missions.  They plant many seeds in the Isles of the 🌊 Sea, which hopefully one day will burst into great gardens to harvest!  We are excited to share in their baptism this Saturday of their friend Juliette.

Sisters Porter & Yee were here last week and we got to spend a few minutes with them.  What wonderful sisters who helped train our branch sisters, but took time out to touch the one.  They spoke to each Sister Missionary for just a few minutes, but it was a chance of a lifetime for our sisters who have never had an opportunity such as this.  Their Spirit touched ours.  Charity is the only word that touches how we all felt.  We could definitely feel the love of the Savior.

We have sisters from Brazil, USA, Philippines, Mexico, Tonga, and Jamaica represented in this picture.

The gospel is true!  We LOVE studying and sharing the Book of Mormon with all that we come in contact with.  We love serving these young missionaries as they testify of the Truthfulness of the Gospel and the Book of Mormon.  We want to thank Kerry Muhlstein at BYU for providing us copies of Understanding Isaiah to share with our missionaries and as a resource to help us teach in our branch.  Kerry's family is dear to me from our Maeser connection.

We invite you to ask you or any of your friends that may want to serve a mission to consider Barbados.  We will be looking for office missionaries in late fall, as well as MLS missionaries on a few of our islands.  French is nice but not required.  It's beautiful here, especially if you like perpetual summer, young missionaries, and ministering to others.
