Smile & Wave.....Everything Changes!
Good
Morning to all! We hear that winter
is hanging on for you, but it’s hard to fathom here in Barbados. We
to see our grands enjoying the snow
and keep connected through pictures.
Every few months, we get to meet with all our senior couples that are on all the islands. They are amazing and we have learned so much from their service!
Senior Missionary Zoom Meeting

We continue with mission duties, study, and serving our missionaries and branch members. We are humbled as we watch their sacrifice and commitment despite obstacles that seem foreign to us. As we try to develop a deeper love and commitment to become like our Savior, we feel a greater desire and urgency to build the kingdom here in the Caribbean but understand there is only so much we can do but have to support the members to embrace and commit to living the gospel as He commanded. Growing up in a branch, we called it the trickle down or telephone game of cultural interpretation of the gospel.
| Barbados Zone Conference |
We had a wonderful Zone Conference on Thursday. Some of the highlights we noted:
- Challenges are opportunities to embrace change
- Enduring to the end means being willing to change to the end (Sister Craven)
- Change comes with choice
- The message needs a messenger who is prepared for just such a moment
- Rise up, measure up, and fully serve the Lord (Elder Ballard)
We are approaching transfer week with all its moving parts and organized change. We say farewell to 10 of our beloved missionaries and 3 senior missionaries. Good-byes are hard but we’ve made some beautiful memories and friendships that will endure.
In the midst of transfer week and departure dinners, we are also excited to receive a visit from our area authorities as well as Sisters Porter & Yi as they land on Monday to do some focus groups with our Bajan sisters and a Family Home Evening. Hope to have more pictures next week for that.
Following that, we welcome 9 new missionaries and orient them to turn around and send them out to their various assignments. How do you inspire missionaries when they have traveled on red eye flights, are sleep deprived and are nervous about everything that is new? We’re constantly working on this to make the experience more meaningful for them.
Our mission secretary departs this transfer and we welcome a new secretary in May. In the meantime, we will embrace this change the best we can. I’ve learned a few more skills to keep up some of the cultural traditions set by our mission leaders to fill in during the transition. I
think people are surprised that I can wear multiple hats at once.
